Blackwater Outdoor Experiences offers therapeutic summer programs for young adults ages 13 - 19+. Each wilderness therapy program empowers young adults struggling with substance abuse, ADHD/ADD, depression, and anxiety disorders.
Started by Medical Director George M. Bright, M.D., who has been recognized as an expert on ADHD by the American Medical Association, BOE's mission is to provide an elite level of therapeutic care through a outdoor and experiential therapy curriculum that takes into consideration each individual's strengths and weaknesses.
Each BOE therapeutic expeditions are intensive, powerful, and a positive first step to "reboot" and start a long-term therapeutic treatment plan for young adults. Our trips offer a small group setting with a 1:3 staff to student ratio and a maximum of 6 participants and 2 field therapists that travel with each group the entire duration of the expedition.
Our highly qualified staff consists of masters level field therapists, licensed clinical social workers, licensed professional counselors, a medical doctor and medically trained field staff.
Programs Dates: 2014. Our summer therapeutic programs run in May, June and July. (May 11- June 1; June 15 - July 6; July 20 - August 10). There is no such thing as a typical day; many of our wilderness therapy expeditions include kayaking, canoeing, and rock climbing.
